I am one of the 50 Semi-Finalists in the Lilla Rogers Studio's 2013 Global Talent Search

You are darn right. My recent submission towards Lilla Rogers Studio's Year 2013 Global Talent Search had been chosen from over 1500 participants from over 30 countries around the globe. It's like, what's the odd? This came with a huge surprise for me. I know, I know this news is not new news now that we should be talking about Round 2 which is about to open to public for voting real soon. Will update you with more details soon.

I still remembered that evening...Hubby was getting the girls ready for dinner while I dishing the meal up for everyone. I thought "Hmm, let's have a look who are the top 50 and I wonder how many MATS' students have made it through." So I click and click...alright...oh wow, so beautiful..oh wow, so nice...nah, I don't think mine make it...and then I saw Irene TAN!!!! My name! I use my original family name instead of my married name. I was like WHAT THE HELL!? SERIOUSLY? FOR REAL? I ended up jumping up and down non-stop before literally rolling on the floor laughing out loud. Hahaha...

Theme: Playground Journal as if for Paperchase

I think this must have been the most honor place to be for my 3rd year doing what I love doing. It has somehow made a turning point for me (let's hope that continue that way). It gave me different perspective on how I want to run Missy Minzy. It gave me hope that there's still hope. Upwards and onwards.

Challenge Day 47 - My Creative Space 2

I have been occupying my time participating the Design A Sock competition for the last 2 days. I thought why not share with you some of my work-in-progress sketching which I have produced so far. I have not sketch a concept on the layout pad for a very long time. So pardon my rusty sketching strokes ;)

Anyways, one can submit 5 designs the maximum. So these are the rusty sketching sketches I have done so far. I noticed my style has changed compared to how I would do it in the past differently. The style is more Missy Minzy's style. So yeah there you go. Some of you might wondering what if anyone steal my idea? Oh well. I believe in karma.

Challenge Day 44 - Participating: Design a sock competition

No, this is not my design ;)

Marie from Print & Pattern has always been one of my inspirer. Her style gave me the confidence (cuz her style and design are so different than the others imo). It also put my new love for textile on track. Yes, I am very new when comes to fabrics. I attended a short course on textile design at CAE some time ago. And I fell in love by playing with the duplicating & the layouting patterns and designs.. like instantly! It is indeed an art to put all the elements/designs together while you still managing to play with the space.

Participating various competition to get some sort of recognition is part of being a graphic designer/illustrator in the creative field. I have to say the original information of the design a sock competition is actually a teamed up between Print & Pattern and "sock it to me". Go on and click on the link for the templates. Well, Yeah! You guess right! I have decided to give that a go and will see if they select my work or not. Doesn't really matter if I get the prize or not but the main thing is I get the chance and challenge (maybe you too?) to have a bit of fun and gain some experience. That's what life is all about.
