Update & Recent Works

Hello, I haven't forgotten about this space.
I have been back here on and off wanting to write a post
but couldn't find the time finishing it off.
Hence, more posts have been parking in the draft box.

Anyways, I have intention to show you more of my recent work.
My style and direction has somehow changed.
I felt different when I was creating them.
I also feel that I am drifting away from the old self,
as in how I was being inspired when I was pregnant with Peanut.
Yes, I drew a lot of quirky mushrooms and Minzy Girl's little adventure.
Right now, it seems to be more light, liveful, still colourful..
I have realized I am spending more time wanting to do more decorating Peanut's room again.
So you are most likely to see more nursery theme related (maybe not??) coming through.

These are some of my recent works which I have been created since the last post in blogging land.
Alphabet Range - Whale
Playing with texture (unfortunately you can't see the detail from here).
The colour of this print is rather more aqua blue-greenish.
The whole approach of this illustration is light and pastel..soothing to look at.
Still working on a few more alphabet as we speak..

 Everything Is Floating
At last, a new mushroom print to be included in Y2012.
I like how the school of fish are swimming at the bottom of this illustration.
It's kind of make it looks alive and bubbly I thought. :)

Close up of "Everything Is Floating"
Swing To My Lou
New Minzy Girl's print to be added for the Y2012.
My black and white of this illustration was just Minzy Girl sitting on the swing.
Took me quite a fair bit of time producing this illustration for some reason.
While I'm on here...just to let you know I have now downgrade my Platinum plan
I was with BigCartel to the basic 5 products.
So if you like to see more of my work and like to purchase some of them.
Feel free to visit my Madeit and Etsy's store.

Adios for now!

Hello

Hello. How are you?
I posted something here early September on my mini break but felt awkward and took it down. I then meant to follow up another post right after that but my days been carried away with my 17m/o and of course, my break has since begun. Thank you some of you who spent time writing emails and left me comments right after the post. It really warm my heart knowing that people do care and the supports from like minded like you!

So here's a little update what I have been up to while I was looking for my creative mojo (self seeking really) during the time I was away. I have spent many quality time looking after myself. I am feeling alot better now. I strongly recommend everyone should do that some time! Have a good break and feel recharge!

I have been to Creative Women Circle's recent talk at Frankie & Swiss' venue.
everyone is getting ready before the talk starts
 Guest Speaker: Shelley Panton!
Look at the crowd. So concentrating!
Click here for more on what Tessa got to say on CWC's blog! Yeah, I know this is such a late update but it's better than never being blog ;)

My parents who are living o/s came to visit and stayed with us for 3 weeks. We had made a plan traveling to Tasmania for holiday when they are here. These are some of the beautiful Tassie shots we have gathered.
 Sheffield
 Enchanting Garden, Cradle Mountain
Will hopefully be back for more walk at Cradle Mountain when Peanut is older. Mind you, we did the Dove Lake (2 hours walk) with her. She was so tired and fell asleep on her dad's shoulder.
 Ross
Hobart - Please note this is not Salamanca Market
Get to visit the infamous Salamanca Market. It was a pity the 3 of us had gastro when we were in Hobart. So we ended up staying low key throughout the 4 days stay here. On the positive note, I think I like Hobart. :)
First experience of snow at Mt Wellington! :)
The view on the way back from Mt Wellington. How stunning!
Street Art? at Elizabeth Street, Hobart ;)
A visit to Mona Museum
It was a quick visit and may I say. Do Not Miss This if you ever have a plan visiting Hobart!!

I think I will finished off this post here. Will hope to write a few more posts in regards some news. Once again, thanks for hearing me out and supports! Enjoy the sun especially if you are from Melbourne :)

Oh, before I go. My Madeit's store is offering FREE POSTAGE for any giclee prints this month. Don't forget to visit my BigCartel's store too. I have finally made the plunge, pay the monthly fee just so I can get more products listed with them. So, Happy Shopping will ya! Irene xx

Post Wrap Up for Craft and Design as a Career: Emerging

So I have subscript myself to be the member of Craft Victoria recently.
This is my first event via Craft Victoria. I don't usually get the chance to go out
(it's rare by myself these days). No, not true.
Actually, paid event has always been a struggle for me
as am eating my own saving doing Missy Minzy.
It was my first time going to Melbourne Museum
Almost missed the stop hopping off the tram, hah!
 Surprisingly quite a big crowd
 hello shoes!
pardon the dim light shot as they just switched off the bright light
 in the museum
I actually like this tropical forest
Made me feel like home looking at them

I think this talk will help those who is in transition on establishing their own labels.
Heaps of great tips and great network to begin with.
Really glad I went cuz I was ticking away
what I have done and what not.
It gave me a new perspective (ie: sustainable area) on
how I should work on my other projects.

My Creative Space - sneak peek

Thank God for we women are made to be able multi-tasking!
The time well spent watching my 10.5 months old daughter growing up,
did actually gave me the opportunity to reflect (brainstorming!)
what I should do with Missy Minzy (now & future etc) and myself.
conceptual drawing (doodle really ;) ) like this
my inspirations come and go
catch and jot it when you can
Sold out my Minzy Girl series
and now..working on some mystery print(s)

The frequent of having markets
help to understand your products.
Which products are your best selling.
How to have the perfect market displays.
Try to have as minimum conversation
with the customer because they tend to walk away
when you greet them and do the talking ;)
So I tend to look down and pretend flipping those magazine? lol

Looks like April is a month
which will be filled with creation.
I have been having breakthrough for days.
working on my 5th illustration for the 2nd night last night.
Was thinking to share the finished ones with you.
But I guess you might have to wait until I have a title for each of them.

Interested to have a good browse on
what other talented women are up to at their studio?
Please head over to Kirsty's My Creative Space
with your cuppa ready. Enjoy your Thursday!

Not quite sneak peek shots

I have quite a bit of breakthrough this week. Hence, I have some new work to be unveiled and share with you. It looks this week has been a productive week. And am quite satisfied with the bright and vibrant colours!
One of my new work this week
No title at this stage.
Will soon list them on madeit when a title is given.

I have been spending heaps of quality time watching Peanut growing (sorry if I haven't write you back sooner). Gosh, don't they grow up quick?? 5 months she is now. I had to unwrap the christmas pressie dress set which I bought for her before she was born cuz she is getting longer. She is going to be taller than me. :) I came to realize whatever things does not matter. The most beautiful things is now. So lovely watching Peanut growing. So sweet! :)

Madeit's store frontview's banner ..lol
Thought I could have a little bit of fun ;)

Apart from Q time watching Peanut growing...
I have also spent a bit of time reflecting about the future for Missy Minzy.
love love love this print...it looks a lot better in real life :))

I have noticed that the only thing which I should,
maintaining my momentum is to keep creating and keep going.
That should be the ultimate goal for me.
I actually don't mind this print if it's in my original black and white sketching.

Just keep on doing what I love doing and enjoy the adventure ride while am on it. :)
There should be a few more new works on the way..stay tuned peep. xo

My 1st Giveaway - Creative Name for these 3 Weird Characters

In the beginning, there were all the odd shapes, crazy, quirky colourful mushrooms in Missy Minzy's World (it's insane I tell you!!)...and then Minzy Girl appeared to be the only one who live in Minzy's World...and what's next?
Mushy Mama ?
You have met him..he has been hanging around on this blog for awhile ;)
Octopus Mushy?

I tried to colour them but they don't look good in colour.

Lesson learnt today: Do not feel little for what others got to say about you just because you are a mum and you don't have time to do the things you used to enjoy. Cuz we are putting our child's needs ahead than ours!
To all mummies, please remember you have done an excellent job!! XO
