Shining News

You would have known all this if you were one of the liker on my Facebook Like Page.

I have been spending some time ticking off a few boxes on my 'to do list'.
So it came back with some positive feedback and response {finally}
...which is important for my business.

I am a dreamer and so am an achiever.
Just like anybody else,
I have dreams and lots of goals to be fulfilled for Missy Minzy.
As some of you who have been following my blog
since day 1 would have known that the job lost
during recent global recession have changed me inside out.
It somehow pushed me and made me crawl & hide in the cave.
I somehow felt isolated and lonely.
Given am not 100% locals, friends are not always there for me.
Mr Minzy encourage me to do something I love.
So I started drawing again.
That is one of the reason how Missy Minzy was born,
where I like to see the result of my creativity go places..
I want people to give me a chance to shine.
I want people to shine {smile} when they look at my work...
I want people to support me because they like my work.

This is the place where I get to do the things I love (on daily basis)
from home while looking after Peanut.
I'm doing this is not because 'another project' nor hobby.
My current aim is hopefully one day, earning enough and being able
to contribute some $ into our mortgage...just like old days.
I know all these meaningful dreams might be simple {to some}
but I'm working on it to make it achievable soon.

The joy of watching my 12.5 m/o growing up
makes me wanna see my baby #2 --> Missy Minzy grow as well.
They are both very important to me...as Missy Minzy has been with me
when I started dabbling and doodling away during the pregnancy.

So what are the good news then?
Having stockists to sell my work have always been my top priority.
So I am very chuffed to know when these 2 fabulous retailers
are able to have Missy Minzy's work to be sold on their shops.
I can now announce that Little Indigo and Rudy & The Dodo
are my first 2 stockists selling my work. Woohoo!!

Now the next good news means a lot to me too!
I have been accepted as one of the stallholder
with Mathilda's Market in Melbourne this August!
Woohoo!!

sneak peek
After all the hoo haa....tears, sweats, planning and patience...
We will soon be introducing a new product range to you.
I'm hoping to get them ready to be sold on my next market
with the North Melbourne Market end of the month.
Will let you know when they are in store ready to be purchased hey.

Creative Talk & Post Market Wrapped Up

I have been a member of Creative Women's Circle (CWC) for awhile.
So far I have been to one of their creative event
(Emily Wright, Owner of Nancybird)
when freedom and time were under my wing last year.
I was very pregnant and ready to pop back then ;)
Embossed Purse by Nancybird..to be released mid April

I was so mad at myself for missing out Ink & Spindle's talk last June!
Cuz my mom was staying with me for the whole culture confinement month
when Peanut was born. Culture confinement month basically means
you don't wash your hair for whole month and you cannot shower.
You can only drink particularly date drinks
and NO water drinking for a whole month.
Ginger is the key ingredients in most food......ra ra ra..
Do a google if you want to know more in details.
Anyways, where was I? ;)

So you see..CWC will be very beneficial for you
if you were a designer/artist/makers.
Then I would encourage you to sign up!
For those of you who are into market or stallholder yourself.
Please do not miss their next speaker event
as Nic MacIsaac, founder of the Magnolia Square design market
will be on, 16th April 2011! Please click here for more details.

I have been slack when comes to updating my blog recently.
The truth is most of my time have been occupied by Peanut.
I used to think that "Oh, poor me...there goes my ME TIME".
Now, stuff that thought! I am enjoying being a mum.
Once a mum, forever a mum I say!
Hey, I think I just saw Peanut made a basic 3 steps walk
without any supports this evening. I was so impressed!!

It was the first time by myself at
the North Melbourne Market last 2 Sundays.

You can now Mix 'n Match your own!

I thought it would be a horrible experience where no mocha,
no toilet break, no accompanion ra ra ra..

neighbour in front of me....
selling vintage dresses...at $5 per piece..I kid you not!
Aha! I managed to walk over and touch a few pieces.....;)

right next to neighbour - Jubly-Umph
a very quirky designed jewellery range

and up to my surprise,
it turned out to be a great fine day! :)

"What's For Breakfast" had gone to good home recently.
It was one of the first sales I made after a long holidays. Good starts!

A little bit here and there

This is just one of the packaging shot I wrapped for one of my customer
by using one of my limited edition hand printed linocut wrapping paper
Hey...have you thought I was really gone with the wind (all the rain and wind in Melbourne) after not hearing from me for so many days?? No, I have been very occupied by Peanut. She is approaching 7 months. If you are a mum yourself..you would be very familiar that baby this age gets more clingy..which is something I did not really experience when she was alot younger. Yeah, lucky me. Anyways, Peanut is growing very pretty and content (healthy and happy, main thing!). So you can imagine, more of her time during the day and less of the me time for me. I get so tired by the time when the dark and the moonlight arrives.
Catch me in action at the Fairy Floss Markets tomorrow
Anyways, I 'd manage to steal some time play with some design whenever I can..for the December Challenge. I think I will have some of them up for sales at my upcoming market with Fairy Floss Markets tomorrow. It will be our last market for the year. Do pop by and introduce yourself if you happen to swing by at the market tomorrow. I like to meet you there. And if you like Missy Minzy's illustrations then may I suggest you to purchase one of the Mini Desk Calendar Year 2011 when you still can. It has been selling like hot cake on Madeit and my parents in law (my top supporters) just bought 7 of them from me few weeks ago. *waves*
It seems to be doing me good when I am away cuz
I made some sales when I return to the computer. Noice!
Mini Desk Calendar Overview
Before I go. Have you join the giveaway fun yet? The closing date is this Sunday, 12th December 2010 (AEDST). International likers/commentors are very welcomed to participate. I will draw a name (who knows, 2??) that evening. Winner will be announced here. So just comment something, anything (but no spam please). It gets easier to my giveaway now. Cuz I really like you to win it. :)

It will be the first time for FFM to be held
in Williamstown...and undercover outdoor.

We are going for a road trip to Ballarat
on 28th November from 9am~1pm.
It will be an interesting journey for all of us
as this will be our first road trip since Peanut is born. :)

Happy to announce that we will be joining
70 other fabulous stallholders at North Melbourne Market
which organised by Thread Den in Year 2011.

Sweet #2
Have not been doing a lot of creating of late.
Mainly spending time watching Peanut growing.
We have now started her solid and she seems to enjoy it more and more.
Minzy Girl's Collection - Play Time
I like the Minzy Girl's Collection to be simple, clean and sweet.

Sweet #3
Was mucking around on this illustration awhile back but it did not work out well.
So I gave up and move onto the others. And am back this time, with this..
thought it looks good with the Missy Minzy's signature pattern and colours. Sweet.

ETA: (Forgotten to mention that you will see Missy Minzy at FFM, Williamstown this Sunday).

The Finders Keepers Markets

Dockland
Lovely sunny weather is here to visit Melbourne! We have been busy with heaps of outdoor activities this weekend. Missed and loving the sun since the long winter! I have came to realize that I love winter given I was born in a tropical weather country. I do not know why lol. Maybe cuz I can dress up with layers and layers. I also love to match with all sort of patterns and textile (even they are missed match but they create lovely oddness attraction!) :D
We were at the Finders Keepers Markets (FKM) in Melbourne on Saturday.
Heaps of talented people at the market.
To me, being able to be involving at FKM is big deal!
I wasn't ready for Melbourne's first FKM since
Peanut is relatively new to us (20 weeks now I supposed?).
I believe a few more markets and accumulating
more experience will get me more ready.
I believe I will get there when the next FKM coming to Melbourne again. Watch me!

ETA: (Please ignore the date of this post as I had too many draft post on my blog and I have actually lost count.)

My First Markets with Fairy Floss Markets

Sorry I have been missing in action on the blog. So the first markets for Missy Minzy is done deal last Sunday. And I have been catching up with long needed sleeps and real life. Gotta need the balance! Apparently Peanut and Mr Minzy were tired too. Hey, but I thought I was the one having weeks of late nights?? ;)

Anyways, some pictures on how my first markets went with Fairy Floss Markets.
Fairy Floss Markets' Launch Market
Met some really lovely people at the market. It's good to put names on faces.
Stallholders busy setting up their stalls before 9am arrives!
Ahh..my stall's set up
Missy Minzy's Stall on the actual day :)
I did mentioned sometime end of July or early August that it would be great to have at least 1 market before Year 2011 arrives. Guess what? I am going to have another 3 markets before Year 2011. So my next market will be at Williamstown (with Fairy Floss Markets) on 14th November 2010. Click here for more details.
Once you start, you never want to stop. Having markets is great fun!

I am working on some new items for my next markets. Just need to find the time write more over here, respond to more emails and request. Getting busy is great but being busy with good profit opportunities popping up would even better and lovely.

My Creative Space - To Market, To Market

It has been a full on weeks at my creative space over here. I have been preparing my stock for my first market -Fairy Floss Markets. I think I went overboard with the desire to extend a lot of goodies to be sold in the market. Quite often I thought I was a superwoman, but I am not! :D

Fairy Floss Markets at Manningham Function Centre (Right next to Westfield Shoppingtown, Doncaster) from 9am ~ 2pm this Sunday. Fairy Floss Markets is the newest handmade for babies and kids boutique market in town. Do pop over, visit and say "Hi!" especially if you are living close by! :)

So my this week's My Creative Space is filled with finished works more than working in progress works. There were heaps of hick up throughout the preparation. First supplier stuffed up my order..and it would be very rush for me to pack everything. And then the bags..! Haha... I hope am not the only one having drama prior to the market day? ;) I have come to realise that of course I want to sell heaps of goodies at my stall especially it's my first market! But the reality is very tough especially when you have to take care of my 4~5 months old girl (lost count after awhile but who's counting? lol)

Mini Calendar for Year 2011
Will be available at the Fairy Floss Market this Sunday! :)
All 12 different mini hand drawn whimsical illustrations packed into this case.
An affordable way of collecting all of my whimsical illustrations giclee prints...in style! :)

I have to say I have been blessed with people (the Fairy Flossier) willing to share their contacts and their experience. That including making time to comment or 2 on my page..making all those lovely shout outs, those encouragement notes. It's really lovely to know that you are not isolated at your own space. I really enjoy myself. It's amazing to get to know that there is a lot of talented WAHM doing what they love doing.
One of my sign at the Fairy Floss Markets
One of my newer print.
It's ashame that you cannot see the details from here really. It looks good in real life. I thought the colourful bubbles floating in the air brings some happiness. Kinda made your day happy looking at them.
Let's Be Together (8 x 10 inches)
This title came to my mind..and it's stuck there.

I am having my 1st Giveaway this week. The one who can give my new 3 weird characters a cool and creative funky name will win yourself a 5 x 7 " giclee print of your choice. Giveaway will open till 6th October 2010. Click here for more detail on how to enter the giveaway. All the best! xo
